Berlusconi contrappose una proposta molto concreta: eliminare l’IMU dalla prima casa. Il risultato fu che Berlusconi, dato per spacciato, rimontò e alle elezioni venne sconfitto di stretta misura, togliendo al PD la vittoria. Di solito le destre nelle campagne elettorali propongono cose di interesse materiale per tanti, “proposte demagogiche” si dice, e in effetti è così. In queste elezioni Salvini propone la flat tax al 15%, Berlusconi l’aumento delle pensioni minime. Con quali promesse reagisce Letta? Propone di tassare i grandi patrimoni. Cosa che interessa ben pochi – tranne, negativamente, chi detiene grandi patrimoni – perché alla gente interessa che si dia qualcosa di più a loro, non che si tolga ad altri. Proposta che conferma del resto l’immagine di una sinistra che ingrassa lo stato imponendo tasse. Non a caso il voto a sinistra è sempre più il voto delle persone colte e abbastanza benestanti. La destra sa che invece la maggior parte dell’elettorato è composta da persone del tutto incolte, da poveracci per i quali 100 euro in più al mese sono una cosa importante. Quando la sinistra capirà che “il popolo” non è composto da laureati e intellettuali? Perché la sinistra non propone a sua volta qualcosa di demagogico, per vincere le elezioni? Nel 2014 Renzi, quando era premier, decise un aumento generalizzato di 80 euro in busta paga. Si dice che questo contribuì a fargli stravincere le elezioni europee. Perché non riprendere questa idea? Aumentare a tutti lo stipendio di 100 euro. La sinistra lancerebbe così l’immagine non di una forza che tassa sempre – foss’anche i ricchi – ma che detassa i lavoratori. Perché i 100 euro in busta paga questo sono: lo stato detassa i lavoratori dipendenti. Si tassino pure i grandi patrimoni, purché si detassino i ceti detti subalterni. Ma già so che questa mia proposta, come altre simili, non verrà accettate dagli strateghi della sinistra. Costoro sono troppo snob per rendersi conto che bisogna pensare come pensa la gente comune.
